The lentil (Lens Culinaris) is a type of pulse named after its distinct, characteristic lens shape. Boasting a range of nutritional benefits and culinary applications, lentils are among the most widely grown and consumed pulses in the world. Lentil varieties include yellow, red-orange, brown, green and black. Red, yellow and white lentil types are typically skinned in a process referred to as ‘decortication’. Our lentils can be sold with or without the skins, whole or split.
